Statement of Werner Hölzl for the EAEPE Council election:
Werner Hölzl is economist at the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO) based in Vienna. Before joining WIFO he worked at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, where he still teaches classes in economic and SME policy. He holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Vienna. At WIFO his area of expertise are SMEs, innovation and industrial policy. Werner’s research interests are broader and includes the economics of qwerty, institutional economics and structural change. His research has been published in scholarly journals such as Applied Economics, Industrial and Corporate Change, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Journal of Institutional Economics and Small Business Economics. At WIFO Werner does scientific policy advice projects for the European Commission and the Austrian Government on an ongoing basis. Werner is a long-time member of EAEPE and stands as candidate for the EAEPE council elections.
