Statement of Oliver Kessler for the EAEPE Council election:
In my research, I am particularly interested in interdisciplinary questions, especially with special reference to social theory of risk and uncertainty, economic crises, and finance. I’d count myself to the group of 2000 economists who think that economics went astray – big time. For me the crisis highlights the need for a new interdisciplinary dialogue for which EAEPE’s pluralistic atmosphere could and probably should provide the institutional backing and
support. In this sense, I think that the cooperation between EAEPE and other scholarly associations in other disciplines could be strengthened- if only to increase EAEPE's visibility and importance. This would be a task I’d be
particularly interested in as there is quite a significant number of political economists and economic sociologists who have never heard of EAEPE before.
